Just Inspire Love & Laughter

Who am I?

I am taking a leap of faith. After 16 years of living to work (in public education), I am choosing instead to work to live. I have decided to reprioritize my life. This includes quitting my job and moving to another state to be close to family.

Why read my blog?

I’m starting this blog to keep in touch with all the loved ones I’m leaving and to hopefully continue to positively influence them and maybe some additional folks. Like my blog title implies, I want to inspire love and laughter. I hope there are times what I write gives you a good laugh. Other times I hope it causes your heart to swell. I also hope at times my posts resonate with your faith journey. I welcome discussion and discourse, as long as it is in the spirit of love, learning, and laughs.

  • A Fire Rainbow?
I’ve been wanting to post on here for a while… And today something happened that is perfect as the subject of my first post in a long time. I must first apologize for not keeping up with this blog. I am not naturally inclined to share personal stuff online with masses of people. Some ofContinue reading “A Fire Rainbow?”
  • An analogy
This is Sushi. She’s a pug and she’s quite the character. Sushi isn’t spayed so she still goes into heat. This is new to me. I have no experience with an unspayed adult female doggie. Among some other things, not being spayed and going into heat means she drips fluid from her lady parts. SheContinue reading “An analogy”
  • Delicious Ambiguity
Have I mentioned that I am loving waiting tables?! I get to meet such amazing, interesting, and kind people. I met a man recently who was celebrating completing his first half marathon. He is 91 years old. And he and his wife have been married for 66 years. Just amazing. I also met a coupleContinue reading “Delicious Ambiguity”
  • Beach for Self Care
I took some time for self care yesterday at the beach. I try to make it to the beach at least once a week, even if only for an hour or so. Yesterday was 78 degrees, with a light breeze, and only a few clouds. I decided it wasn’t going to get better than thatContinue reading “Beach for Self Care”
  • Positive Social Media
I’ve signed up to follow some inspirational and positive Twitter accounts. Here’s what my feed looked like at one point recently: For those of you who know me, you know I love quotes. And I have yours that you gave me close at heart in Florida, figuratively and literally. Too often social media divides orContinue reading “Positive Social Media”
  • Boundaries
Ways to practice self love: (from https://wildsimplejoy.com/affirmations-self-worth/) Not “people pleasing” Trusting your gut instincts Setting aside time for rest and self-care Allowing your creativity to shine Using “No” as a complete sentence Celebrating your successes Rolling with your failures Speaking to yourself as if you were a friend Allowing yourself time to grieve Not beatingContinue reading “Boundaries”
  • Little Touch Follow-Up
First, if you don’t already use a navigation app like Waze or Google Maps when you drive, I highly recommend it. I am a fan of Waze, which will update your route based on real time traffic data. Also, users can share information like when there is a car on the side of the road,Continue reading “Little Touch Follow-Up”
  • For thee and for me
I give myself unconditional love Self affirmation #3 from https://wildsimplejoy.com/affirmations-self-worth/ I tend to beat myself up over things. For example, I’ll replay situations in my mind and think of all the different ways I should have responded. And I’ll feel silly, stupid, not empathetic enough, not assertive enough, and the list goes on. I knowContinue reading “For thee and for me”
  • Am I allowed to question?
Here is the second self affirmation statement on the website I referenced yesterday: “I am whole just as I am.” Self affirmation #2 from https://wildsimplejoy.com/affirmations-self-worth/ I think I have to disagree. Is that okay? I’m committed to no longer listening to my head trash, but I’m not sure I’m capable of blindly believing/repeating something IContinue reading “Am I allowed to question?”
  • Wrestling with the quiet
It’s been a while since I posted….. As my big move was looming, I was fortunate to get to spend some quality time with great friends. At dinner one night with two of them, we talked about how a struggle I was probably going to face was wrestling with the quiet. My move was effectivelyContinue reading “Wrestling with the quiet”
